How Octavia Spencer Lost Her Weight
What Octavia Spencer used for her magical weight loss
For movie fanatics out there, you probably remember Octavia Spencer in her award winning performance in The Help. Well not only is this forty six year old an incredible actress but she is a beauty as well thanks to her magical weight loss.
Since her starring The Help, this American actress, producer and author has also had roles in a number of projects including Insurgent and Instant Fam as well as having her voice in the animation Zootopia.
Having been impressive in the screens and winning an academy award for her role The Help, the American actress has recently turned heads by losing a whooping 2st 2lb and she looks amazing. Her incredible weight loss transformation has had people discussing in the corridors and whispering to each other how exactly she was able to pull it off.
Good thing the actress is not secretive about how she managed to lose all that weight and is willing to share. She has recently opened up to her social media followers about the diet that she used to slim down and have jaws dropping at her divaness for lack of a better word and pardon the English.
The magical weight loss has made the actress so confident that now she is able to show off her arms. She recently told her followers that she never really shows off her arms but would do so as a one off to show her tremendous transformation.
You might be thinking that that is little progress but believe me, any progress in the journey of weight loss is something to be proud of. If you are on the journey and see the difference in an old dress or loose fitting pants that used to be tight, it's worth shouting to the whole word and this is what Octavia chose to do. She chose to celebrate her magical weight loss with her fans on Instagram and even showed some arm proof.
The actress showed off her arms while on a lunch break in her trailer and I can only imagine the excitement that she was going through to warrant her running to Instagram at that time. In her post she continues to say that despite working out all the time, the cellulite in her arms had been there for several years and has not budged until recently. Now you can imagine the excitement of not showing off your arms for many years and then suddenly being able to do so. It is quite something isn't it?
In her post she goes on to tell her followers of the changes that she has made including perform inspired supplements, balanced nutrition and the right work outs. She also goes on to invite her followers to share their success stories irrespective of how small they are.

Body Building Diets Are Not Just About Taking Smaller Quantity of Calories
Starting a body building program with solid foundation is imperative for you, in order to experience the results associated with the program. As a result, you can include diet and nutrition.
Making dietary mistakes will surely have a negative impact on your accomplishment in the gym, which will not let you meet the goals of the program once you fail to consider good diet and nutrition. That is why it is important to master and understand the importance of developing healthy and nourishing food that fits your specific needs and metabolism.
Before You Start
Considering your body building objectives and your present situation is the first thing you must do before you map out your nutritional requirements. This doesn't need focusing your meals, particularly if you are a proletarian person that builds his body.
Furthermore, considering your lifestyle is essential because time restrictions can have a great impact on the way you want to accomplish your nutritional needs.
The Basics of Healthy and Nourishing Diet
Determining calories needed to achieve your desired objectives is one vital step to your diet budding. For example, if you desire to gain weight, you are expected to ingest a minimum of 250 to 500 extra calories above your maintenance level.
Your maintenance level is simply the calorie quantity at which you neither lose nor increase in weight. But if you want to lose weight, you will have to reduce intake by 250 - 500 calories. Then, you will want to share the sum on 5 - 7 meals for the whole day, once you establish quantity of calories you ought to be taking.
Diets Needed
Eating lean proteins, low glycemic carbohydrates, and healthy fats is a must for your body building. Examples of healthy diets include one tablespoon of olive oil, fresh broccoli, brown rice as well as lean chicken breast.
General Food Mythology
As a beginner to body building, you may think that you must avoid fats and carbohydrates. Actually, they are important to your accomplishment because carbohydrates help when it comes to fueling the development of the muscle due to restocking glycogen stores used up during workouts.
You must get it clear that your body would not have the power to build back your muscles if it lacks carbohydrates. Similarly, healthy fats are essential since they boost energy, metabolism, and maintain the levels of hormone.
Why Healthy and Nourishing Diet?
There are many benefits of sticking to firm foods for when it comes to building your body. For instance, you will experience fewer cravings, which will make your body fat level drop, which will in turn help you reduce the risk of many deadly conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease among others.
Conclusion
Eating equal amount quantity of calories you burn and maintaining your weight is crucial to the success of your body building program. Nonetheless, eat more calories than you burn to add weight. Similarly, eat lesser calories than you burn for weight loss.
You must be familiar with the amount of calories you take per day, while having a menu for each day is a perfect idea. This is where you count all the numbers like fats, carbs, protein and calories. Documenting all will make you have a wide range of guidelines and plans.

NAD For Weight Loss
Our body is a magical mystery maze of chemical reactions governed by dictations from our DNA and yes - the daily choices we make.
We all understand our food choices and exercise impact our body fat levels, but we also need to understand more about our inner chemistry. As we have all learned the hard way - fat loss is NOT as simple as calories in and calories out!
By focusing on manipulating the edicts from our DNA - we can influence our chemistry to work with us, in our fat loss endeavors - not against us.
Our Goal: Taking the mayhem and cacophony that happens with daily living - and orchestrating our chemistry into a beautiful symphony.
We have all felt there are saboteurs lurking to spoil our fat loss efforts - it is true.
Here, we are going to talk about a big one - losing NAD.
Bottom line: NAD allows sugars, fats, and proteins to be converted into energy
Research on NAD for fat loss centers around the various building blocks of NAD, most importantly vitamin B3. Milk is a good source of B3. Don't just go and pop B3 supplements - there are various forms of B3. B3 in larger doses can cause side effects, even though it is a water soluble vitamin, and too much of the wrong form of B3 can be counter productive in the efforts to boost NAD.
NAD ( = nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is in every cell of the body and an absolute necessity for mitochondrial function - those power houses, or energy producers in our cells.
NAD decreases with age, but researchers agree NAD is #1 in the anti-aging process - as it dictates to turn off those genes that contribute to the aging process.
How do we lose NAD?
- Aging... a normal process of aging, is the dissipation of NAD - unless we step in a consciously set out to raise our NAD levels.
- Alcohol - also a major culprit in every aspect of aging ( no the resveratrol in red wine is minimal, and we cannot rationalize more wine to get more resveratrol)
- DNA alterations from lifestyle, medications... again unless we step in and consciously protect our DNA
- Lack of exercise - sedentary lifestyle - sitting is the new smoking
- Certain foods can decrease our levels over time - but certain foods can help increase our levels.
Sirtuins
Sirtuins (AKA longevity genes) are a group of 7 proteins that play a role in aging by regulating cellular health. Sirtuins must have a good supply of NAD. Sirtuins control DNA expression and aging, manage all things cellular... alas... if NAD levels are declining... so is cellular efficiency & productivity.
Fasting - often used as an effective tool in fat loss - maybe this is one of the reasons why: Fasting has been shown to increase NAD - which activates Sirtuins.
There is great hope in sirtuins research with cancer, metabolic issues, glucose metabolism, HIV & neurodegenerative disorders.
Clinically healthy yet obese people have shown to have lower NAD/Sirtuin levels in studies. Calorie restriction has shown to increase these levels, and to decrease oxidative stress (look at my many article on OS).
The Sirtfood Diet
Yes - there is a Sirtfood diet. It is also affectionately referred to as "hacking the skinny gene diet".
Sorry - I am not voting for it, as good as it sounds in theory.
The sirtfood diet combines calorie restriction and "Sirtfoods". I have no problem with the SIrtfoods (except for the red wine) because they are great foods for us to eat for many reasons: walnuts, olive oil, blueberries, coffee, turmeric...
Why do I put huge faith in the Sirtfood diet?
To eat enough of these foods to activate Sirtuin activity, well that would not at all be consistent with the calorie restriction aspect of the diet.
I am a big supporter of intermittent fasting for most people - if their physician agrees the person is a candidate for intermittent fasting. However a few things to keep in mind about calorie restriction, which is NOT intermittent fasting.
- When your body is calorie restricted, it uses up its emergency energy stores, or glycogen, also burning fat and muscle... never good to sacrifice muscle - the definition of biting your nose to spite your face!
- Glycogen usage releases the water it used for storage. This is "water weight."
- In the first week of extreme calorie restriction, only about one-third of the weight loss comes from fat, while the rest comes from water, muscle and glycogen,
- As soon as your calorie intake increases, your body replenishes its glycogen stores, and the weight comes right back. How miserable and de-motivating.
- body will often lower it's metabolic rate, which nobody wants- making it easier to gain weight in the future.
Yes. - we need to support our NAD production. NAD is a necessity for life. IV NAD infusions have been successfully used for a number of years now by athletes to increase performance & recovery naturally, people for anti aging, opioid & alcohol addictions, depression & anxiety, energy, PTSD, chronic fatigue, DNA repair and neurodegenerative disorders. Finding more ways to increase NAD and lower oxidative stress - are the true keys to living a proactive, healthy lifestyle.

Boosting Immunity Through A Healthy Daily Routine - PART TWO
This is part two of how we can boost immunity because we have control over our daily routine. See part one on a previous post.
Midday
For most of us midday would bring us to lunch time. Ideally, lunch time would be 4 to 5 hours after we've had breakfast. Waiting 4-5 hours between meals is called intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting has been shown to reduce inflammation in the body which, in turn, helps improve our immune system. (This is not recommended for those who are diabetic, have metabolic syndrome or other health conditions that require a different nutritional schedule. One should always check with their healthcare professional about what and when to eat.)
Lunch might include: Free range chicken and organic vegetable soup. Vegetables like carrots, which contain the vitamin A, cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, kale, and cauliflower to detoxify the body and a clove of garlic which is antimicrobial are a good choice. Another serving of healthy fat such as a tablespoon of flaxseed oil can also be consumed.
Dinner Time
Dinner time ideally would, again be 4-5 hours after lunch, so as to practice intermittent fasting. A meal consisting of plenty of healthy vegetables, protein and fat like beef, chicken, and fish are excellent choices.
Any dietary plans that follow the guidelines of the keto diet, the paleo diet, the South Beach diet or similar approaches work well in supporting our immune systems.
Since all of us like a snack or something sweet on occasion that is certainly permissible. Dark chocolate is a great choice that can satisfy our sweet tooth and can benefit us because it is anti-inflammatory.
An alcoholic drink on occasion does not have to weaken our immune system. Red wine and stout beer are anti-inflammatory.
Exercise will definitely improve the immune system. A good goal is to shoot for 30 minutes of exercise per day. Moderate exercise such as walking and weight and resistance training have been shown to lead to a higher number of white blood cells which helps to fight infection. One does not need a gym, health club or exercise facility. Some hand weights and stretch cables at home can provide resistance training. Walking provides aerobic exercise and may be the most beneficial activity humans can engage in.
Getting adequate sleep and rest is the most important thing we can do for our immune system. Our immune systems are working hardest while we're sleeping. We supercharge our immune system when we get our rest!
One does not have to strictly follow this daily routine to have improved immunity. Enacting any of these measures will only enhance the immune system. However, gradually adding these ideas, over time will improve our control over the present and future health condition confronting us and make us less susceptible to aging and degenerative processes.

Boosting Immunity Through A Healthy Daily Routine - PART ONE
Spring of 2020 finds many of us "locked down" due to a global viral pandemic. Schools are closed, businesses are shutterd and we are told to practice social distancing. Television and social media are a 24/7 source of information about the challenge. With all this going on it may appear as though all is lost and we are in a hopeless situation. However, all is not hopeless because we have control over our daily routine. This article will describe how we can go about our day in a positive manner that will help us during this trying time.
Anyone having played organized football and or having watched football on television has probably heard a coach say: "The best defense is a good offense." Perhaps we can take this advice and formulate this strategy into improving our health so as to make us more resistant to the present disease we are facing and, even to other health conditions such as premature aging, dementia, heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
Consider the following healthy daily routine.
Morning
Upon awakening, drink a large glass of water. Water is necessary for all the chemical reactions that take place in our body. It is also an important way we eliminate toxins and waste products from the body. It is estimated that 75% of all Americans dehydrated or are underhydrated. One third of us mistake thirst for hunger- so instead of drinking water we eat, and we know what that leads to... Most people should drink 2 liters or half a gallon of water/day.
Have a healthy breakfast of protein, vegetables and healthy fats. For example: two eggs, a serving cup of vegetables that might include carrots, broccoli and cabbage and a teaspoon of coconut oil.
Another vegetable option is to eat a handful of sprouts. You can grow your own sprouts from seed on your kitchen countertop by using a sprout jar. Amazon has a product called "Broccoli And Friends Mix" which contains a variety of different seeds.
Now that we've hydrated and fueled ourselves, we can gently get warmed up. Anyone with a dog or cat knows that their animal gently stretches upon arising. We should do the same. It is important to do some slow stretching exercises and nothing too vigorous. In fact, the first hour after arising shouldn't consist of any heavy lifting or carrying. Nor should we engage in repetitive bending at the waist or finding ourselves in an awkward position. The body responds best to gently warming up for the first hour of our day.

Give Your Coffee a Healthy, Rich and Creamy Upgrade
We should all have health goals! After all, without your health you don't have much else. Having a couple of cups of coffee to start your morning and an afternoon pick-me-up means your health goals need to include a healthy coffee creamer.
Your java can have health benefits that are anti-inflationary, anti-oxidant, and metabolism boosting beverage. When pouring your next cup, look at that ingredient list to decide if you need to switch to a healthy coffee creamer.
What Makes a Healthy Coffee Creamer?
One made from natural coconut oil, is lactose-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, cholesterol-free and has functional supplements. Other ingredients to avoid are sodium, vegetable oil, and carrageenan.
Good nutrition is not only about what goes into a product, but as much about what is kept out. Some people mistakenly think coffee creamer of any kind is unhealthy and adds nothing but unwanted calories. That is simply not true. A healthy coffee creamer can curb hunger cravings and promote weight-loss.
Functional Supplements Enhance Health Benefits
Healthy plants such as Citrus Aurantium (from oranges) and Hoodia (African cactus-like plant) are healthy supplements known to improve metabolism, increase stamina, and promote weight-loss.
Citrus Aurantium extract (also known as bitter orange) is a flavoring and acidifying agent and an essential oil. It has health giving secondary-metabolites (for metabolism), along with preventative health benefits (lung and prostate cancers, gastric disorders, etc.), and works as a mild appetite suppressant.
Hoodia (also known as Kalahari cactus) has a long history of traditional use by the indigenous San hunters in the deserts of southern Africa. They chew the pulp of the hoodia gordonii cactus to suppress thirst and hunger on long journeys. It is a succulent, fleshy plant of the Asclepiad family.
Coconut oil contains saturated fats (good fats) known to boost fat burning and provides quick energy to both your body and brain. It is easy to digest and promotes healthy functioning of the thyroid and endocrine system.
Key here is that a healthy coffee creamer can be tasty, creamy, and good for you all at the same time. It boosts your metabolism, suppresses appetite, and has other health benefits ranging from decreasing gastric disorders to resisting some cancers. You can't say that about packaged chemicals labeled as creamers. Chemical red flag such as dipotassium phosphate and sodium sterol lactylatered are what you don't want in your nutritional intake.
Out with the Bad and In with the Healthy
People have been drinking coffee for centuries but it comes at a price to your health with the wrong additives. It doesn't have to be that way any longer. Excellent, healthy and transparent coffee creamer is available that will hopefully kick-start your daily diet to into a wholesome and healing one that supports a long and healthy life.
For a truly creamy, delicious, and healthy creamer go with a supplemented coconut base enhanced with natural flavors like vanilla, hazelnut, mocha, and caramel.
